Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

Well baby clinics

We no longer hold a well baby clinic at the centre. If you would like to have your baby weighed or discuss their health or development with a health visitor please ask at reception for detail of local clinics, or alternatively contact the health visiting team on 0161 225 9274.

Childhood immunisation clinics

  • Wednesday, 09:45am-11:45am, by appointment only.

This clinic is run by our practice nurses and you can bring your child along for their immunisations. Appointments will be sent out by the child health department for scheduled immunisation, or alternatively you can make an appointment at the desk.

First point of contact clinic

  • Monday, 09:00am-12:30pm.

This clinic is run by the midwife and is by appointment only. You can now book into this clinic as soon as you know you are pregnant and the midwife will arrange all your antenatal care.

Booking clinic

  • Monday, 14:00pm-15:00pm.

This is run by the midwife. At this clinic the midwife will take a booking history and blood tests. She will also discuss with you your choices for maternity care. Once you have seen the midwife at the first point of contact clinic she will make you an appointment to attend this clinic.

Antenatal clinics

  • Monday, 09:00am-12:30pm.

This is run by the midwife. Regular check ups will help you to stay healthy during pregnancy. Once you have seen the midwife at the booking clinic she will make you an appointment to attend the antenatal clinic.

Drug treatment clinics

  • Monday morning, by appointment only.

The clinic offers treatment and support for drug users.

The services available are:

  • Inpatient/ outpatient detox
  • Rehabilitation centre referral
  • Management of drug use
  • HIV/Hep counselling
  • Relapse prevention
  • Employment/education referral

Well woman check ups

Available by appointment with Dr Harris or the practice nurses to help you to stay healthy; cervical smears or breast examinations can be performed if required. You may also get advice if you have a problem.

Health promotion clinics

The practice nurse is available to give you advice about a healthier lifestyle e.g. diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol. She will also check your blood pressure and weight and perform further tests if appropriate e.g. blood cholesterol.

Diabetic clinics

This clinic aims to improve the care of our diabetic patients and is run by Catherine Whitrow, our practice nurse. Patients will be reviewed annually by invitation. If you wish to attend this clinic please see your doctor.

Asthma clinics

This is run by Mrs Hodges. The aims of this clinic are to help you to gain maximum benefit from your treatment, and to reduce the frequency of attacks.

Heart clinic

This clinic is for patients with angina or who have had an heart attack. It is designed to help reduce risk factors and optimise medical treatment for your heart condition.

Travel clinic

Please make an appointment at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. Not all immunisations and vaccinations are not covered by the NHS.

Other services

Family planning

All of the doctors provide family planning advice. If you require a coil fitting (IUD) contact a local family planning clinic. All of the doctors will provide advice about termination of pregnancy and patients can now self-refer to one of the following organisations without having to see their doctor:

  • British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS)
  • Central Manchester NHS Trust
  • Manchester Pregnancy Advisory Service

There is one a central booking service that is able to offer an appointment at any of the above providers. It operates from 09:00-19:00, on weekdays only. To make an appointment, please ring 0845 365 0565.

Minor surgery

We have facilities to perform minor surgery such as freezing of warts and injection of joints.

Health checks for the over 75s

If you are aged 75 years or over, you are entitled to an annual health check. A home visit can be arranged if you are housebound.

Health checks for the 15-74s

If you are aged between 15-74 years you are entitled to a three yearly health check.

PARS (Physical Activity Referral Service)

PARS helps people with long term conditions to increase their level of physical activity in a safe and structured way. The service provides a health screening, advice and access to exercise sessions led by highly qualified exercise professionals.
